Why did we start Monit?

We started Monit in 2019 with a mission to help small business owners optimize their daily finances and effectively plan their financial future, so they can feel financially confident and focus on building their business. That’s the mission.

And, the premise is simple: business owners want to pursue their passion and grow their business, not be bogged down with financial, accounting and banking tasks. Importantly, there are no existing tools that provide a clear view of a business’s financial future. Some businesses use spreadsheets for planning, but those are cumbersome to maintain and amount to another job for the owner.

Business owners don’t need another job, rather they want proactive financial guidance to help them stay on top of priority financial matters, which include cashflow forecasting, expense optimization and capital planning.

Before the first line of code was written for Monit, we spent hundreds of hours with business owners to understand their financial pain points. Monit was developed to specifically address issues facing real businesses.

Monit is designed for the on-the-go owner and acts a complement to a business’s existing accounting software. Over time, Monit learns about a business and how it is run. So, it becomes even smarter and can look ahead with even more precision.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and cashflow is the lifeblood of each small business. We are excited about the mission of helping business owners become better operators with intelligent cashflow forecasting, clarity of their financial future and tools to optimize their financials. We are working with great partners to get Monit in the hands of business owners starting in the summer of 2020.
